Oracle database administration

A DBA who knows your database by name, without a full-time hire.

The problem

Most mid-sized companies run a mission-critical Oracle database and have nobody dedicated to it. The DBA left, the ERP vendor only supports their application, and the backups "should" be working. Then an ORA-600 shows up at 7 a.m. and you find out the last valid backup is three weeks old.

How we work

  1. 1

    Initial assessment

We inventory versions, applied patches, memory configuration, backups, Data Guard and access. You get a status report with risks ranked by impact.

  2. 2

    Stabilization

We fix what is urgent: RMAN backups verified with a test restore, out-of-range parameters, over-privileged accounts, unattended alerts.

  3. 3

    Ongoing operations

Alert log, tablespace, job and performance monitoring. Planned maintenance windows for Release Updates and preventive tasks.

  4. 4

    Evolution

Version upgrades (11g, 12c, 19c, 23ai), RAC, Data Guard or ASM when the business needs them, with a documented rollback plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can you take over a production database nobody documented?

Yes, that is the most common case. The initial assessment rebuilds the documentation: configuration, dependencies, jobs, backups and access. From there we operate with a change log.

How do you access our servers?

Through VPN or a bastion host with a named, audited user, under the access procedure we agree with your security team. No shared credentials, no standing access without justification.

Do you support Oracle Standard Edition?

Yes. Standard Edition 2 has restrictions (no native Data Guard, no partitioning, CPU limits) and we know the supported alternatives for each case.

What happens if the database goes down after hours?

It depends on the engagement model. A support retainer defines response SLAs by severity; on-demand work is handled as availability allows. We agree on this before signing, not after the incident.

What hours do you cover?

Ecuador is UTC-5, which matches US Eastern Standard Time and is one hour ahead of Central. Our business hours overlap fully with yours.
